Datalogic is pleased to announce the Magellan 9800i TDi (Top Down imager), a color camera accessory for our premium 9800i bi-optic scanner and scanner/scale.

The 7” height is specifically designed for retail self-checkout applications and optimized for Produce Identification. This imager takes advantage of the proven rugged TDR (Top Down Reader) form-factor to provide years of trouble-free service. The TDi is also completely integrated with the Magellan 9800i. This means no problems with red illumination interfering with the captured color images.

These white lights also allow the TDi to illuminate the dark interiors of opaque bags as well as see through translucent produce bags for simple, no-fuss identification of the items within. Full integration with the 9800i also means no extra cables in lanes where space is at a premium.

Perfectly positioned above the platter for optimal performance with AI and machine learning software, retailers can now add cutting-edge features like Produce Identification to their existing hardware infrastructure without complex upgrades or challenging field service procedures.

No matter what self-checkout system is in use, the Magellan 9800i TDi will provide a consistent view of the platter across the entire enterprise. Additionally, the TDi can also co-locate with a TDR on the same scanner. No need to sacrifice market-leading barcode scanning performance to add innovative AI-capable technology. All-Weighs™ Scale Platter

The All-Weighs scale platter design provides an alternative weighing surface on top of the bonnet, allowing the user to lay produce that is too long to fit on the platter

ScaleSentry™ Technology

Monitors the 2 primary sides of the scale platter with an infrared (invisible) beam to detect if fruit or produce is
misplaced on the scale platter causing the item to be under-weighed.
Misplaced fruits or produce will break the infrared beam and trigger an alert to the cashier, preventing the weight from being transmitted to the POS until the cashier corrects the problem.
